Skin health physicians all over the country gathered at the 6th Biennial Postgraduate Course 2014 of the Philippine Association of Primary Skin Health Association Inc. (PAPSHPI), which kicked off on October 11, 2014. The two-day event which had the theme “Through the Looking Glass: Beyond the Dermatologic Horizon,” was staged at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel and offered an exchange of innovative and progressive ideas amongst the present and future members of the skin health medical profession.
The academic program featured current trends and workshops from skin health experts. Two foreign speakers graced the event. Dr. James Chan, a renowned medical practitioner from Hong Kong, gave a lecture titled “Review on Fat Reduction and Body Contouring Devices.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Dina Tukhvatulina from LabDom Suisse introduced a new Swiss discovery for youth restoration.
Local doctors also showcased their research. Dr. Jennie Francisco Diaz discussed the Q-Switched ND: YAG Laser, while and Dr. Sidney Cu reviewed Facial Anatomy. Dra. JosselinOreta-Santos presented treatments to manage psoriasis and dandruff. Dr. Maica Galvez-Vergara focused on “Line Lift” and held a workshop on Professional Peels. Dr. RisaCaldoza-De Leon addressed “Topical Peptides” and headed a workshop on “Lasers in Skin Care.”
The Fellowship Night, the Conferment Ceremony for the Board of Trustees and Officers, Diplomates and Fellows were simultaneously conducted, marking a cornerstone in their profession.
With its founder and chairman Dra. Grace Lopez at the helm, PAPSHPI has grown to a more than 300-strong association in the mainstream of both primary and aesthetic skin health, and continues to flourish. Guided by its President JP Ayache Garcia and its tireless officers, PAPSHPI proudly became an affiliate society of the Philippine Medical Association in 2014. It has forged alliances within the ASEAN region, like the World Society of Anti-Aging Medicine (WOSIAM) and International Congress in Aesthetic Dermatology. Its members are annually offered to train at the famed National Skin Center in Singapore.
