Would you rather go for natural-looking lashes or super-dramatic extensions? It’s interesting how a simple change along the edge of your eyelids can make your eyes truly captivating. Some even get away wearing no eye makeup in parties, just lash extensions. If you go for a subtle change, maybe you’d get away wearing them as if they’re inborn.
- MYTH: Eyelash extensions make your natural hair fall out.
Your eyelash will fall out naturally with or without extensions. It undergoes a cycle of growing and shredding that happens within 60-90 days. Your eyelashes will not fall out due to extensions unless you prematurely try to remove them (false lashes) pulling your real lashes in the process.
- MYTH: Eyelash extensions hurt.
You may experience a sting or itching for a while but it usually goes away quickly. If it does hurt, something is wrong with the application technique or they might be using a sub-standard adhesive.
- MYTH: Eyelash extensions will keep you from activities that involve lots of sweating.
Of course not! Being the adventurous one, I went hiking, swimming (yes!), and spelunking with my eyelash extensions. The by-product was picture-perfect eyes on those no make-up moments!
- MYTH: The glue that is used for eyelash extension is not safe.
The glue used for applying eyelash extensions is safe and approved by ophthalmologists. It is color black so that it goes well with the lashes. In order to be sure, please ask your salon if they are using legit brands. Also inform them if you have allergic reactions to glue or adhesives.
- MYTH: Eyelash extensions are permanent.
They are not. Because lash extensions are attached to your natural eyelashes that fall and regrow, the extensions will come along when they fall off. Also, you can have your lash extensions removed anytime at the salon if you don’t like them anymore.
- MYTH: I can have a DIY eyelash extension.
Please don’t, even if you watched or read a tutorial. Eyelash extensions should be done by trained lash experts. Save yourself from misery and go to a salon for your eyelash extensions.
- MYTH: Once I had eyelash extensions, I will forever need to maintain having eyelash extensions.
Eyelash extensions can be perfectly a one-time deal. It’s not like shaving facial hair that you need to maintain once you’ve decided to give it a try.
- MYTH: You can’t wear make-up when you have eyelash extensions.
You can still wear make-up but when it comes to mascara, stick to water-based ones. Waterproof mascaras are hard to remove and thus, might ruin your eyelash extensions.
